Dolores is a lecturer in Special Educational Needs (SEN) at the Centre for Special Educational Needs, Inclusion and Diversity within the Education Department. Her research interests include numeracy and dyscalculia, special and inclusive education, initial teacher education and continuing professional development, SNA training and training for Bus Escorts. Dolores worked as a post-primary teacher of English and Mathematics, Deputy Principal and Principal, as well as Co-ordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma in Learning Support from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Her current teaching and Director role include Module Leader of Numeracy for Professional Studies in SEN, Module Leader of three modules on the PGSE programme, Director of the Annual Principals’ Seminar, Module Leader of two under-graduate modules in the BAPME 4 year, Tutor on School Placement (PME) and Practicum [PGSE, PGSEN (ASD)], Lecturing on the PGSEN (ASD), PGSE, PSSEN, MA SEN, MASEN-ASD, MA SLD, BA-PME programmes, Supervisor of MA SEN-ASD, MA SEN, MA PSSEN, MA SLD, MA dissertations. She has engaged in extensive research and secured research funding from NCSE, NABMSE, DES, SCoTENS, and Merici Funding. She has been successful in a recent tendering bid with the NCSE. She has published in many peer reviewed journals and presented at various national and international conference proceedings. 


Dolores’s research interests include special and inclusive education, numeracy and dyscalculia, behaviour, SNA and Bus Escort training, models of SE Provision, initial teacher training and continuing professional development.
