Stand Alone Module: Inclusion for Learning
Course Overview
The Inclusion for Learning module aims to equip the participant with a knowledge and understanding of the development of inclusion, nationally and internationally, considering current legislation, policy and practice. The participant will critically analyse the concept of inclusion with emphasis on theories and models of good practice and examine the concept of inclusion in the context of professional practice. The participant will demonstrate the skills, understanding and attitudes of the ‘reflective practitioner’ and will be able to critically appraise the role of advisor, consultant and manager of the learning environment. The module is delivered using online components as well as face-to-face workshops.

By completed CSENID Stand Alone Application Form 2020-2021 - Closing date for applications for this module will be May 2020. Due to the large volume of applications in recent months, it is strongly advised to apply as soon as you have decided on your preferred option as places will be awarded on a first come basis.
Who Teaches this Course
Requirements and Assessment
Continuous assessment will apply throughout the module. It will combine coursework on relevant aspects of Special Educational Needs with e-tivities, discussion boards, portfolio/project-based learning, literature reviews and case studies, which will be carried out within an appropriate educational context during the academic year. The concept of the ‘reflective practitioner’ will be a basic criterion permeating all forms of assessment.

As well as Inclusion for Learning, the Centre for Special Educational Needs, Inclusion and Diversity at St. Angela’s College, Sligo has developed an suite of additional modules at postgraduate level in the following specific interest areas:

- Specific Learning Difficulties 2 - Dyscalculia, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Dyspraxia/Developmental Coordination Disorder
Completion of two modules from the above suite of modules (30 ECTS) = Postgraduate Certificate
Completion of four modules from the above suite of modules (60 ECTS) = Postgraduate Diploma
Participants may progress to Masters level on successful completion (an honours standard) of three modules from those listed above which must include the on-line blended learning module on Educational Research Methods.
Further Education
Participants may progress to Masters level on successful completion of three modules which must include the online blended learning module: Educational Research Methods. The exit award will be a Master of Arts in Professional Studies in Special Educational Needs.
