Academic Libraries Co-operating in Ireland (ALCID)

Students on Masters/Doctoral programmes also may participate in the Academic Libraries Cooperating in Ireland (ALCID) scheme which allows access to other Irish university libraries for research purposes. This programme allows students to visit participating libraries and to use their resources. It does not allow borrowing privileges.

A co-operative arrangement between the libraries of:

  • Dublin City University
  • Dublin Institute of Technology
  • Mater Dei
  • NUI Galway
  • NUI Maynooth
  • Royal College of Surgeons
  • Royal Irish Academy
  • St. Angela's College
  • St. Patrick's College, Drumcondra
  • Trinity College Dubin
  • University College, Dublin
  • University College, Cork
  • University of Limerick

Our participation in this collaboration allows staff and postgraduate students access to the collections of these libraries by presenting the common ALCID card.
Students may collect a card upon request at the library desk. We do ask that you not collect one until you actually require one for a visit to another library. You must present both the ALCID card and your St. Angela's ID at the other institution.
NUI Galway does not require an ALCID card, the St. Angela's ID alone will suffice.

Please note the ALCID initiative is available only to postgraduate studentsnot undergraduates.
